Higher November 2020 Paper 1 Q24

24. The velocity, \(v\) m/s of a particle, \(t\) seconds after it begins to move is given by

\(v = 10t - t^2\)  for  \(0 \leqslant t \leqslant 10\).

(a) The diagram shows the graph of the velocity of this particle.
Graph of v = 10t - t squared for t from 0 to 10 seconds on a grid, velocity axis 0 to 30 m/s; the curve peaks at v = 25 when t = 5
Find an estimate for the acceleration of the particle at \(t = 6\). [3]
(b)
The same graph of v = 10t - t squared with the region between the curve and the t-axis from t = 0 to t = 10 shaded
(i) Use five vertical strips of equal width to calculate an estimate of the area of the shaded region. [4]
(ii) What does this area represent? [1]
