Foundation June 2023 Paper 2 Q19
19 A sphere has a radius of 3 cm.
Calculate the volume of the sphere.
Give your answer in terms of \(\pi\) in its simplest form.
[The volume \(V\) of a sphere with radius \(r\) is \(V = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\).] [3]
| Answer | Marks | Part marks and guidance | |
|---|---|---|---|
| \(36\pi\) final answer | 3 | M1 for \(\dfrac{4}{3} \times \pi \times 3^3\) oe M1dep for \(\dfrac{4}{3} \times \pi \times 27\) or \(4 \times \pi \times 3^2\) or \(\dfrac{108\pi}{3}\) or \(4 \times \pi \times 9\) or \(\pi 36\) oe | Accept \(36 \times \pi\) do not accept \(\pi 36\) for 3 marks For method marks accept \(\pi\) = 3.14[2…..] and 1.33[3…..] for \(\dfrac{4}{3}\) |
