64 of the 100 holidays were sold to families.
The rest of the holidays were sold to couples.
11 of the 18 holidays abroad were sold to couples.

(3)

One of the holidays sold to a family is chosen at random.
(b) Find the probability that this holiday was not abroad. (2)
| Answer | Mark | Mark scheme |
|---|---|---|
| families 64: UK 57, abroad 7 couples 36: UK 25, abroad 11 | B3 | for a fully correct frequency tree |
| (B2 | for at least 4 figures correctly placed) | |
| (B1 | for at least 1 figure correctly placed) |
Additional guidance
If probabilities used instead of frequencies award a maximum of B2
| Answer | Mark | Mark scheme |
|---|---|---|
| \(\dfrac{57}{64}\) | M1 | \(\dfrac{a}{64}\) where \(0 \lt a \lt 64\) and \(a\) is an integer (ft) or \(\dfrac{57}{b}\) where \(b \gt 57\) and \(b\) is an integer (ft) |
| A1 | (ft) for \(\dfrac{57}{64}\) oe |
Additional guidance
Must be values from their diagram with numerator < denominator
Accept probabilities given as equivalent fractions, 0.89(06…) or 89(.06..)%
